LONDON: BBC Worldwide has picked up a 25 percent stake in Curve Media, after having invested in the company as a start-up.

BBC Worldwide will continue to have a first-look option to acquire global distribution rights (including format rights) in all media for all programs developed by Curve until 2019. The company was formed last September by Rob Carey and Camilla Lewis, formerly of Cineflix, who have produced and co-produced programs such as Claimed and Shamed, Salvage Hunters, Trauma Doctors: Every Second Counts and Pet School. The pair struck a management buy-out deal with Cineflix to start the indie, which is focusing on developing content for channels in the U.K. and North America.

Mark Reynolds, BBC Worldwide’s genre director for factual, said: “Apart from being a pleasure to work with, Camilla and Rob are two of the most sought-after and innovative producers, with a strong track record in formats and character-led access documentaries. This deeper relationship with Curve supports BBC Worldwide’s commitment to deliver a strong pipeline of high-quality British factual-entertainment content.”

Rob Carey, joint CEO of Curve Media, commented: "Camilla and I are thrilled to have completed this deal. BBC Worldwide are the perfect partners for Curve Media with their peerless history of nurturing and supporting creative talent. We look forward to a fruitful relationship with them in the future.”
