PARIS: The celebrity news channel Non Stop People is launching with a Spanish version on Telefonica’s Movistar TV platform this June.

Non Stop People, a joint venture between Banijay Group and Mediatic System, is dedicated to covering celebrities 24/7. The channel is currently broadcast in France on Canalsat. Starting June 1, Non Stop People Spain will debut, with an emphasis on international entertainment and celebrity news, with a spotlight on Hispanic stars.

Non Stop People Spain will be overseen by José Manuel Lorenzo, president of Banijay Spain and former managing director of Canal + in Spain. The editorial team will be led by Antonio San José, formerly director of information at CNN+, Canal + and Spain’s national radio.

Lorenzo commented, “We are delighted to launch Non Stop People in Spain—this simple concept had instant appeal to Telefonica. We have put in place a strong editorial team to attract the young Movistar TV audience. We believe the creativity and originality of our content will become the destination for Spain’s new generation looking for celebrity and entertainment news. I am certain that our new channel will quickly find its place in the market and the next step in our development will be a move into Latin America in the near future.”

Hugues Dangy, the president and founder of Non Stop People Group, added, “We are very proud of the launch of Non Stop People in Spain. It demonstrates the strength and relevance of our original concept, and its international potential. The possibilities that we are opening up for the Hispanic market are huge and we intend to capitalize on the expertise of our Spanish teams to accelerate our global development.”
