STOCKHOLM: Modern Times Group (MTG) has extended its exclusive rights for several major golfing events in the Nordics and the Baltics until the end of 2018.

Through the deal, MTG retains the rights for the PGA European tour, the Ryder Cup, the World Golf Championships, the British Open Championship, the U.S. PGA Championship, the LPGA and the Asian Tour. More than 1,200 live hours of golf will continue to be available each year on MTG’s Viasat Golf, a dedicated golf channel in Northern Europe, and the streaming service Viaplay.

Additionally, MTG has also agreed to acquire the exclusive rights for the Wimbledon grand slam tennis tournament for Denmark, also through 2018. All rights were acquired through IMG Nordic.

“I am delighted to announce the extension of the exclusive rights to show these key golf tournaments,” said Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, MTG’s president and CEO. “We have saved our dedicated golf fans from the risk of boredom and we have once again delivered on our promise of offering the very best sports content to our subscribers.”
