LONDON: Dee Smith, a former Bullseye TV and Discovery exec, has been appointed as the director of content for lifestyle sports and culture content creator Factory Media.

In the new role, Smith is charged with creating and acquiring content for the company's own multiplatform audience, while developing, creating and delivering the best ideas to secure U.K. and worldwide broadcast commissions and branded content briefs. She will also handle international sales and distribution for all IP rights on every platform.

Smith started her career as co-founder and director of production at Bullseye TV, which was eventually acquired by the Zodiak Group. She later served as executive producer at Discovery Networks. After that, she co-founded and directed iMama.tv.

Smith commented: "Factory Media is one of those rare gems where established content, audience and platform meet and the combination is virtually unexploited. What I'm here to do is connect up brands, broadcasters and publishing for 360 delivery."

Darryl Newton, the CEO of Factory Media, added: "We think we've found in Dee a unique combination of skills both in 'traditional' TV, building up production companies and overseeing broadcast production to a profound hands-on understanding of digital content strategy. We have huge ambition to build scale and believe Dee will play a pivotal role in helping us realize that."
