CBS Action to Join Freeview in the U.K.

LONDON: CBS Action is increasing its reach with a launch on the U.K.'s largest free-to-air digital TV provider, Freeview.

Starting October 1, the channel, which is owned by CBS Studios International and AMC Networks International—Zone, will be available on Freeview in the U.K. This adds to its current reach in the country, where it is already available on Sky, Freesat and Virgin. CBS Action delivers such shows as NCIS, Star Trek: Next Generation, Star Trek: The Original Series, Nash Bridges and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Tanya Gugenheim, the chief business development officer at AMCNI—Zone, said:  “Following the successful launch of CBS Reality on DTT in April, we are excited that CBS Action is now also going to be available to Freeview homes. CBS Action showcases the best in action dramas and sci-fi, so a really great fit with the Freeview audience.”

Guy North, the marketing communications director at Freeview, said: “The launch of CBS Action is great addition to our existing channel lineup. The channel will give Freeview homes even more entertainment programs, without the need to pay a monthly subscription.”
