LONDON: ITV has commissioned a full season of Release the Hounds, a horror game show from the producers Gogglebox Entertainment.

The show had solid ratings as a Halloween special on ITV2 last year. It will now go into production as a full series this spring. Reggie Yates will host (he also hosted the one-off special).

The 6×1-hour game show will see unsuspecting contestants enter a forest at dusk. They will face a set of terrifying challenges to get their hands on money that is locked in chests. In order to keep the money, they must out-run a pack of hounds guarding the loot.

Angela Jain, ITV's director of digital channels and acquisitions, said: "Release the Hounds was one of those rare things—a show that defies description but that once you watch it, just works—both terrifying and entertaining in equal measure, we are thrilled to bits that a full series will be on ITV."

Adam Wood, joint managing director of Gogglebox Entertainment, said: “The Halloween special proved a big hit and a real talking point on social media. We look forward to spending many more pleasurable nights terrifying people in dark forests.”
