LONDON: New figures from Ofcom find that premium TV subscriptions are more expensive in the U.K., averaging £66, which is twice as much as the cheapest nation surveyed.

British consumers are paying £66 for the "best offer" premium pay-TV subscription, a package that includes league football, films and HD offerings. The U.K. was the highest out of a six-country comparison. Spain ranked second (£49), followed by the U.S. (£47), Italy (£40) and France (£35), while Germany was least expensive (£27).

However, Ofcom also says that the average U.K. package includes twice as many channels, which makes for a difficult comparison.
