PARIS: Reed MIDEM is expecting to receive more information on the potential airport strike that could disrupt MIPCOM attendees' travel plans early next week, according to Mike Williams, the company's director of communications, noting, "We've spoken to the French Civil Aviation Authority and there is currently no confirmation that any industrial action will take place on October 10."

Yesterday, Williams says he spoke to the Air Traffic Controllers European Unions Coordination (ATCEUC), which has been calling for a European-wide strike on October 10, the last day of MIPCOM.

Williams received the following emailed update from the union: "Not all countries will go for a strike on that day, but it can be expected that there will be some influence on the usual airlines flight schedules, mainly in the form of delays. This action day may go from a 24-hours strike, partial strikes or other forms of protest. At this stage, we cannot yet confirm the scenario in France."

Reed MIDEM says it will receive an update on the situation from the ATCEUC early next week.
