LONDON: Emily Mortimer (HBO's The Newsroom) is joining Sky Vision at MIPCOM to launch her first original comedy series, Doll & Em, which she co-created and co-stars in with Dolly Wells, who will also be in attendance.

Doll & Em is produced by King Bee Productions for Sky Living HD. The series is semi-improvised by Mortimer and Wells (Spy, Bridget Jones's Diary), who are real-life best friends. The show looks at the dynamics of female friendship, set against the backdrop of Los Angeles. There are a number of cameos from high-profile film stars throughout the show as well.

Sky Vision is also launching Moonfleet, a feature-length classic drama. It is an adaptation of the John Meade Falkner novel. It stars Aneurin Barnard (The White Queen, Citadel) and Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast, The Departed).

Carl Hall, the managing director of Sky Vision, commented: “I am thrilled we will be launching our first comedy series at MIPCOM with Dolly and Emily in Cannes and our first drama feature. Following the launch of Sky Vision just last year, we are already offering a wide range of high-quality drama and comedy from Sky and other third-party producers. Although we’ve made a strong start, we have even more ambitious plans moving forward.”
