BBC Worldwide Taps Head of Global Operations

LONDON: BBC Worldwide has hired David Gibbons for the newly created post of director of global operations, effective August 28.

In his new position, Gibbons will be charged with overseeing technology, property, procurement and operations/sales fulfillment. He is expected to help organize the company’s distribution and audience fulfillment processes.

Gibbons currently serves as the group chief information officer for SEEK, an online employment organization in Australia. Before joining SEEK he worked as the chief information officer for GE Capital Asia, where he managed 300 employees and more than 1,000 contractors in numerous territories. 

Tim Davie, the CEO of BBC Worldwide, remarked: "I am delighted to welcome a senior leader of David’s caliber to BBC Worldwide. He will play a vital role in leading the Operations division and, as a member of the Worldwide Executive, in all aspects of running the company. David’s track record speaks for itself and I’m sure he will make a big impact at BBC Worldwide."
