LONDON: TRACE Sports has finalized a distribution deal that makes it available in standard definition to all Canal+ customers in Spain through a basic package for no extra charge.

TRACE Sports is the first network devoted exclusively to famous athletes. The channel has already made carriage agreements with more than 100 top broadcasters. It currently airs in some 30 million homes spanning 103 countries around the world.

Manuel Aldana, the platform programming director for Canal+, remarked: "TRACE Sports provides a great complementary role to sports channels currently broadcasted by Canal+ in Spain. The launch of TRACE Sports reinforces our strategy to broadcast high quality channels that will bring premium content and added value to our subscribers."

Laurent Dumeau, the CEO of TRACE Sports, said: "In the world of sports celebrities there is no other country like Spain. Our in-depth programs dedicated to some of Spain’s biggest sporting stars, including: Rafael Nadal, Iker Casillas, Juan Mata and Fernando Alonso, will most certainly please all sports fans."

Aldana continued: "We love sport and we love entertainment—TRACE Sports is a great combination of both. Our customers will definitely enjoy this programming proposition because people in Spain are mad about sports and celebrities. TRACE Sports will deliver high quality programming on those topics. We expect TRACE Sports to contribute in boosting customer loyalty and satisfaction. At Canal+, we are very pleased to welcome TRACE Sports and all their ‘champions’ on board."

Dumeau added: "We are delighted to partner with Canal+, the leading platform in Spain to introduce TRACE Sports to the Spanish audience. With a unique and exclusive approach to sports celebrity content, TRACE Sports will provide Canal+ customers with a completely new viewing experience, which allows sports fans to get closer to their favorite sports stars than ever before."
