BUDAPEST: Chello Central Europe has acquired more than 200 hours of first-run and library drama programming from Power for its Film Mania channel in Hungary and Film Café channel in Romania and Hungary.

A slate of movies from Power are headed to Film Mania, while the mini-series package is for Film Café. Through the agreement, Chello Central Europe becomes the exclusive Romanian broadcast home for the mini-series Treasure Island, which stars Eddie Izzard, Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland, and Neverland, starring Rhys Ifans. Both Treasure Island and Neverland are premiering on Film Café.

Power also licensed The Lion in Winter, starring Glenn Close; Out of Ashes, featuring Christine Lahti; and Tin Man, a re-imagining of the L. Frank Baum classic. The agreement also includes a number of holiday-themed movies, among them An Old Fashioned Christmas, starring Jacqueline Bisset.

Katalin Radóczy, Chello Central Europe’s chief programming officer, said, “It is a great pleasure to build on our existing collaboration with Power. We are excited about the addition of Neverland, Treasure Island and many other high-end exclusive contents to our film portfolio. We are confident this large variety of programs complementing our lineup of quality TV productions will resonate well with our viewers.”

Steve Turney, Power’s VP of sales and acquisitions, added, "Power’s relationship with Chello Central Europe continues to flourish and deliver for both parties. Power’s portfolio contains a huge volume of the kind of independently produced, high-quality dramas that set Chellomedia’s channels apart from the competition and which their viewers have come to expect."
