PARIS: Canal+ Group has inked a five-year content licensing pact with HBO covering its premium, thematic and free-TV channels.

CANAL+ subscribers, plus viewers of the D8 and D17 DTT channels, will be able to access a range of HBO series, including Girls, Game of Thrones and The Newsroom, in a second window on pay TV, plus the Cinemax show Banshee, for which CANAL+ Group has acquired exclusive first-run pay-TV rights.

HBO has for many years had an output deal with Orange that covers the first-run pay-TV rights to its shows. That agreement was renewed earlier this year.
