SVT Acquires Bates Motel, The Bible & More

STOCKHOLM: The Swedish pubcaster SVT has acquired a number of U.S. cable shows, including Bates Motel, to complement dramas such as HBO’s The Newsroom and ITV’s Endeavour.

SVT also scooped up the epic The Bible. Other dramas to launch on SVT before the summer are the second season of Call the Midwife. SVT signed a deal at BBC Worldwide Showcase for more than 100 hours of programming, which included Top of the Lake, Death in Paradise, Whitechapel and a third season of Sherlock. Among the factual titles headed to the public broadcaster are Michael Palin’s Brazil, alongside a package of nature and wildlife content and new profiles on Beyoncé and David Bowie.
