LONDON: The international sales rights in all media for Rising Star, a romantic comedy/drama, have been acquired by Content, which is set to showcase the title at the European Film Market.

Starring Gary Ploski (Being Michael Madsen) and Emily Morse (Time’s Up), Rising Star follows the life of an insurance adjuster who is torn between his job and an online love interest. Michael Barra (The Amazing Spider-Man), Greg Nutcher (Labor Day), Luz Ramos (The Invention of Lying), Julia Frisoli (College Road Trip) and Gary Craig (Curb Your Enthusiasm) also appear in the movie, which made its world debut at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival in the spring.

Rising Star was written and directed by Marty Lang, who also co-produced alongside Ploski and Matthew Giovannucci. It was filmed on location in Hartford, Connecticut. The crew was comprised of graduates of the Connecticut Film Industry Training Program (FITP), which was created by Lang.

"We’re beyond thrilled that Content is partnering with us to get Rising Star out into the world," remarked Lang. "This has been a labor of love for all of us, and we’re excited that moviegoers will get to see Hartford, Connecticut, the insurance capitol of the world, in a way they’ve never seen before."

"We wouldn’t have been able to make this film without the energy and excitement of our FITP graduates," Lang added. "For many of them, Rising Star was their first feature film, and they’ve used this experience to kick off careers in the film industry. I’m as proud of that as I am of the film itself."
