MUNICH: The Walt Disney Company has bought the German commercial channel Das Vierte.

The purchase is still subject to approval by the German federal cartel office Bundeskartellamt. Das Vierte, which translates to The Fourth, was purchased by Disney from the Russian media executive Dmitry Lesnevsky.

Disney is already present in the German market, holding a 50-percent share of Super RTL and a 31.5-percent stake in RTL II. It also operates Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD and Disney Cinemagic in the country.
