LONDON: A new MGM HD movie channel is being launched in Russia and the former Soviet Republics, bringing with it such films as Rob Roy, Much Ado About Nothing and Crimes and Misdemeanors.

The new channel, part of the MGM Networks bouquet, features more than 4,000 titles from the studio’s classic library, to be broadcast daily in high definition. It will complement the existing SD channel, which reaches more than 1 million homes across the region. Carriage is in place with the DTH platform Tricolor, Orion, Akado, NCN and Viasat in Ukraine.

MGM Networks is also launching a local-language feed in Croatia starting today. The service will be subtitled in Croatian, marking the 26th language that MGM Networks broadcasts in around the world.

“The launch of MGM HD offers audiences in Russia and the former Soviet Republics the most diverse movie selection from our prestigious library shown in the most advanced technology,” said Matthew Baxter, the senior VP of MGM Networks. “We are thrilled to add this new dimension to our relationship with some existing clients, as well as welcoming new platforms and consumers across the region. The launch of this MGM HD channel enhances our strategy of delivering localized channels to multiple platform partners across the region.”
