Sky Deutschland Signs Long-Term Deal with Unitymedia & Kabel BW

COLOGNE/UNTERFÖHRING: Sky Deutschland has entered into a long-term cooperation with Unitymedia and Kabel BW that includes expanded carriage for the Sky HD channels.

A total of five Sky HD channels will be available in the Unitymedia territory, including the new HBO channel Sky Atlantic HD, which will be available from its launch date, May 23. Also included are Sky Sport HD1, Sky Sport HD2, Sky Sport News HD and Sky Cinema HD. Sky Atlantic HD will also be available in the Kabel BW territory from launch. The number of available Sky HD channels in the Unitymedia territory will be increased to up to 15 by the end of the year. Up to 18 HD channels will be available in the Kabel BW territory.

Lutz Schüler, Unitymedia’s CEO, commented: “We are very pleased to make more Sky HD channels including Fußball Bundesliga HD available to our customers. This cooperation will further grow the pay-TV businesses of all three partners.

Brian Sullivan, the CEO of Sky Deutschland, added: “This is the news all cable network customers in NRW, Hesse and Baden Wurttemberg have been waiting for. Starting end of May, they will be able to receive the unique Sky HD channels. A particular highlight is the feed-in of the new exciting channel Sky Atlantic HD on Unitymedia and Kabel BW right at its launch.”
