ZDFE Sells Titanic Programs & More

CANNES: The 90-minute doc special Saving the Titanic, the two-part drama Titanic and Werner Herzog’s Death Row were among the ZDF Enterprises properties that notched up deals at MIPTV this week.

 

Saving the Titanic was picked up by Canada’s CBC, France’s Planète, and Slovakia’s STV, which, along with Croatia’s HRT and Austria’s ORF, also opted for Titanic. In addition, Canada’s Shaw Media purchased the third season of Alaska State Troopers and Planète picked up the Delta Divers. The rights for Werner Herzog’s Into the Abyss and Death Row were picked up by Discovery Italia, and acquired by Belgium’s VRT and Discovery Nederland. Death Row was also picked up by Poland’s Ale Kino/Canal+ Poland. Contracts for other packages of documentaries were inked with TV3 Catalonia and France 5. 
 
The Danish-Swedish crime series The Bridge was sold to Ale Kino/Canal+ Poland, while season one of the original Danish mystery series The Killing went to Italy’s Rai 4 and Croatia’s HRT. Australia’s SBS secured the rights for season two of The Protectors.
 
In other deals, ZDF Enterprises’ Lightning Point was bought by Portugal’s SIC, Finland’s YLE, Hungary’s MTVA and Turner Broadcasting System Europe Ltd. for German-speaking Europe.  The Australian series Dance Academy was sold to Slovakia’s STV and Hungary’s MTVA, while the website for Dance Academy was acquired by Nickelodeon in the U.S. Season one of the 3D-animated series Jungle Book was purchased for Austria by ORF and season two was secured by Turner Broadcasting System Europe Ltd. for German-speaking Europe, along with Roary, the Racing Car
