Viasat World has signed deals with six content producers and distributors, acquiring programming for its Epic Drama channel.

Epic Drama, which broadcasts across Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltics, will air The Doll Factory from Cineflix Rights in early 2024, among other titles. Set in the 1850s, the series is based on the best-selling novel by Elizabeth Macneal.

Working with Banijay Rights, the company also secured two seasons of the Roman epic Domina, with the first season also premiering on Epic Drama in early 2024.

From ITV Studios, Viasat World bought the four-part adaptation of Henry Fielding’s classic 1749 novel Tom Jones, as well as the eight-part crime thriller The Serpent.

From Beta Film, the third season of the premium German period drama series SISI will air on the channel, alongside The House of Promises, a drama based in the 1920s.

Viasat World has picked up The Canterville Ghost, Les Misérables and Maigret from the BBC Studios library. From All3Media International, season four of All Creatures Great and Small and the three-part Des have also been acquired.

“As one of Europe’s biggest content aggregators, we are continually in the market for high-quality and award-winning international programming, and we will continue to bolster the Epic Drama content slate in 2024,” said Stephen Roberts, VP of content strategy and planning for Viasat World. “We look forward to strengthening our partnerships with some of the industry’s best international distributors and content suppliers as we work to secure programming that truly resonates with our audiences across a breadth of genres, including gripping crime and mystery, lavish period pieces and warm-hearted nostalgia.”
