Turkish Drama The Promise Notches Up International Deals

Eccho Rights has signed several international deals for the drama series The Promise, which recently began its second season in Turkey.

The drama has been picked up in Poland (TVP), India (MX Player), Lithuania (SIA All Media) and Romania (Antena Group/Happy Channel). These territories join Imedi TV in Georgia, which became the first international broadcaster to acquire the series earlier this year.

The Promise scored record-breaking ratings for Turkey’s Kanal 7. It was recommissioned after just two weeks from its successful initial run earlier this year.

“The Promise is a really amazing production, with the look and feel of a high budget, weekly series but broadcast daily in Turkey, where local audiences have been tuning in at a higher rate than even some of the most prestigious prime-time dramas from the past year,” said Handan Özkubat, director of Turkish drama at Eccho Rights.
