SYDNEY/MUNICH: STUDIOCANAL has sold the drama series Spotless to SBS in Australia, where the show is due to debut next year.

Spotless centers on a man named Jean Bastiere, whose life is turned upside down by the return of his outlaw brother. The 10×60-minute series, made by TANDEM Productions, is a CANAL+ Création Originale starring Marc-André Grondin (C.R.A.Z.Y.), Denis Ménochet (Inglourious Basterds), Miranda Raison (24) and Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey). Following its initial broadcast on CANAL+ in France this year, the show premiered to critical acclaim in the U.S. on NBCUniversal's Esquire Network earlier this month.

Marshall Heald, SBS's director of television and online content, remarked: "Edgy, funny and filled with danger, Spotless is the kind of drama series that leaves our SBS 2 viewers wanting more and we're thrilled to have secured it for Australian audiences in 2016."

Robert Slaviero, the CEO for Australia and New Zealand at STUDIOCANAL, added: "Spotless is dark, dangerous, sexy and hilarious with fantastic and daring storytelling in a pan-European setting. This is an edgy, premium content series that will appeal and connect with viewers of SBS Australia programming."
