Starz to Bring Insomnia, The White Princess to MIPCOM

BEVERLY HILLS: Starz is gearing up for MIPCOM with a slate of originals that includes the drama Insomnia and the limited series The White Princess.

The eight-episode dramatic action series Insomnia focuses on a deadly game forcing strangers to play with their lives at stake, as 20 contestants must kill or be killed. All contestants have been injected with a poison, and if they fall asleep, they die. The winner gets the antidote and a new life. It is set against the backdrop of Moscow. Starz acquired all worldwide rights (excluding North America) for Insomnia from Welldone Production.

The company’s MIPCOM offering also includes the Starz original series The White Princess, based on the book by Philippa Gregory. Though England is united by the marriage of Elizabeth of York and King Henry VII, their personal and political rift runs deep and the divide between them threatens to tear the kingdom apart once again. Rumors circulate that Elizabeth’s long-lost brother Prince Richard is alive and planning to take the throne. The series is set to air on Starz in 2017. The White Princess is produced by Company Pictures in association with Playground Entertainment. Starz retains all domestic and international multiplatform rights, including TV, home entertainment and digital.
