Reborn Leads Ambitious Turkish Drama Lineup for OGM UNIVERSE

In three years, OGM UNIVERSE has carved out a distinct niche in the competitive Turkish drama landscape thanks to its emphasis on “ambitious storytelling, a strong slate of titles and an exceptional network of creative talent,” says Ekin Koyuncu Karaman, global distribution and partnership director. The company, a division of OGM Pictures, will be in Cannes celebrating “how far OGM UNIVERSE has come in such a short time, from a new distributor to a globally connected brand with a growing catalog.”

***Image***Leading off the company’s highlights is Reborn, “an emotionally powerful and multilayered drama about love, grief and destiny, but at its heart, it is also a story of identity and belonging,” Koyuncu Karaman says of the show, which tells the story of Aslı, a young woman who survives a heart transplant, and Reyhan, a grieving mother who lost her daughter. “Their lives, and the lives of their families, become deeply intertwined in ways that are both healing and destructive.”

Koyuncu Karaman touts the show’s “cinematic quality” and its universal themes, among them “love born from loss, class divides and generational resilience. The series also benefits from a stellar ensemble cast,” including Kerem Bürsin, Lizge Cömert, Deniz Çakır and Sibel Taşçıoğlu.

“Visually, the contrast between Istanbul’s modest neighborhoods and the opulent world of the Alkan family gives the story a distinctive cinematic scope,” Koyuncu Karaman adds. “Produced by OGM Pictures, known for delivering some of the most ambitious and globally successful Turkish dramas of recent years, Reborn exemplifies the new wave of storytelling: bold, emotional and designed to resonate worldwide.”

At its core, Koyuncu Karaman notes, Reborn is a series about “identity, resilience and the way love and loss shape who we become. It explores class divides, grief and the generational impact of women’s choices, with motherhood, ambition and sacrifice woven deeply into the narrative.”

Guiding the creative is director Burcu Alptekin, “whose cinematic vision and attention to emotional detail give the story both intimacy and scale,” Koyuncu Karaman continues. “The series deliberately plays with contrasts, moving between the intimacy of Istanbul’s everyday streets and the grandeur of the Alkan family’s world, giving it a visual richness seen in Turkish drama. This creative synergy, strong writing, thoughtful direction and powerful performances ensure that Reborn balances prestige drama with broad audience appeal, making it one of the most distinctive new titles in the Turkish drama landscape.”
