Production Begins on Express Season Two

STARZPLAY and The Mediapro Studio have started production on season two of the thriller Express.

Maggie Civantos (Vis a Vis, Malaka) returns as the series lead, a criminal psychologist who was once a kidnapping victim, while Alejo Sauras (Estoy Vivo) and Laura Laprida (Millennials) are joining the cast.

In season two, the psychologist played by Civantos will discover that the express kidnappings she has been tasked to solve are just the tip of the iceberg of an industry built and sustained on fear, and that the company employing her is a major player in a far-reaching and pervasive system of corruption that will continue to put the lives of her family in jeopardy.

Additional cast members reprising their roles are Kiti Mánver (El Inconveniente, Todo por la pasta), Vicente Romero (Malaka, Cell 211), Loreto Mauleón (Patria), Esteban Meloni (Los Internacionales, Vidas robadas), Alba Planas (SKAM), Omar Banana (Veneno, Amor superdotado), Bernardo Flores (Women in Charge), Carmen Daza and Manuela Rojas.

Iñaki Peñafiel (Perdida) and Anaïs Pareto (Sinvivir) are set to direct the eight-episode series, which is currently shooting on location in and around Madrid for 11 weeks. The series will eventually be available through STARZPLAY in Spain and Latin America.

Express is the first local production from STARZPLAY to be renewed.

Executive producers are Laura Fdez Espeso, Javier Mendez, Javier Pons and Iván Escobar for The Mediapro Studio and Mireia Acosta and Peter Tortorici for STARZPLAY. The series is written by Iván Escobar (Locked Up), Antonio Sánchez Olivas (Aida), Martín Suárez (Rabia), David Sánchez Olivas (Perdiendo el norte) and Alberto Rodriguez (Todo el mundo tiene porno en casa). Escobar also serves as showrunner.
