Premiere Date Set for El Vato

MIAMI: The Endemol Shine Latino and Boomdog series El Vato is set to make its debut on NBC Universo on April 17.

The Hispanic cable network’s first scripted series is a ten-parter starring Mexican regional star El Dasa. He portrays an aspiring singer who leaves Mexico and moves to Los Angeles after landing a record deal. The cast also includes Cristina Rodlo, Gustavo Egelhaaf and Ricardo Polanco, as well as Itatí Cantoral, Arcelia Ramírez, Horacio Castelo and Mauricio Martínez.

“Dreams do come true and to be honest I never imagined I would be acting on a TV series inspired on my real life experiences,” El Dasa said of his debut acting role. “I’ve always had huge dreams, envisioned myself singing on the most important stages around the world and I still can’t believe it. I am honored to work alongside renowned actors and colleagues. This challenge is a great blessing and [I] hope audiences tune in to watch NBC UNIVERSO because we poured our hearts and souls into this production.”
