Netflix has unveiled Parasyte: The Grey, an adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s Parasyte comic books that is to be directed by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan).

The books and series tell the story of a society in which unidentified parasitic life forms live off of human hosts and strive to grow their power. Jeon So-nee (Scripting Your Destiny), Koo Kyo-hwan and Lee Jung-hyun are set to star in the lead roles.

So-nee plays Jeong Su-in, who falls victim to a parasite and, when it fails to take over her brain, enters a bizarre coexistence with it. Kyo-hwan plays Seol Kang-woo, who tracks down parasites in order to find his missing sister. Jung-hyun stars as Choi Jun-kyung, the leader of Team Grey, a task force battling the unidentified life forms.

Parasyte: The Grey is being produced by Climax Studio (Hellbound, D.P.) and WOW POINT. Sang-ho is writing alongside Ryu Yong-jae (Money Heist: Korea—Joint Economic Area). It will be released exclusively on Netflix. The original comic book series has sold over 25 million copies over 20 territories and countries.
