Stags, an original drama from Sex Education producer Eleven, has been ordered by Paramount+.

The six-parter follows groom-to-be Stu and his friends as they attend his bachelor party in South America. What was meant to be a celebration full of drink, debauchery and fun takes a dark turn when the stags are sent to a lawless prison island.

Nico Mirallegro (Passenger) stars as Stu, while Corin Silva (SAS: Rogue Heroes) and Charlie Cooper (This Country) play Stu’s close childhood friends. Newcomer Sophie Lenglinger (Druid O’Casey: Sean O’Casey’s Dublin Trilogy) and Paul Forman (Emily in Paris) also join the cast, alongside Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing) and more.

Sebastian Cardwell, deputy chief content officer for the U.K. at Paramount, said, “Quality local content for Paramount+ is something that we are passionate about, and Stags is an excellent addition to our 2024 roster of U.K. original series. With the team at Eleven at the helm and an exciting ensemble cast, Stu’s stag do promises to be a wild, gripping ride that we can’t wait to bring viewers on.”

Carissa Hope Lynch, executive producer, said, “The incredible cast and standout creative team are a real testament to Daniel’s distinct and darkly comic scripts. Stags is a balls out series, packed with plot twists that’ll give the keenest genre buff whiplash. We’re so thrilled to bring this savage tale to Paramount+.”

Paramount+ Greenlights Original U.K. Drama

Paramount+ has greenlit the original U.K. drama series Flatshare ahead of the streaming service’s launch in the country this summer.

Flatshare is based on the best-selling book by Beth O’Leary that has been translated into 33 languages. It follows two cash-strapped twentysomethings with opposite work schedules—Tiffany and Leon—who decide to time-share a bed. They get unexpectedly drawn into the other’s messy, complex lives and an attraction evolves backward.

42 is producing Flatshare in association with VIS, the international studio division of Paramount Global.

Jessica Brown Findlay (Brave New World, Harlots, The Hanging Sun) and Anthony Welsh (Master of None, The Great, The Gallows Pole) take on the lead roles of Tiffany and Leon.

Sebastian Cardwell, deputy chief content officer for the U.K. at Paramount, said: “Flatshare gives a flavor of the high-quality local content that viewers can look forward to from Paramount+. With VIS and 42 at the helm, and a brilliant cast attached, I’m looking forward to seeing this adaptation of a much-loved novel come to life.”

Miriam Brent, Rory Aitken and Eleanor Moran, executive producers at 42, added: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Beth O’Leary’s captivating bestseller to television. Bursting with wit and heart, Flatshare is the perfect love story for a global millennial audience. Adapted for the screen by our incredible showrunner Rose Lewenstein, and helmed by Oscar-nominated director Peter Cattaneo, the creative team is a dream come true. With Jessica Brown Findlay and Anthony Welsh as our leads, we can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with Tiffany and Leon all over again.”
