Development is moving forward on two new scripted series from NV Studios, both based on international best-selling novels.

Inspired by true events and based on the novel Flight to Destiny by Sarah Byrn Rickman, American Valkyries tells the story of the women who created a national controversy by flying military aircraft for the U.S. Army Air Force as part of the WASP (Women’s Airforce Service Pilots) and WAFS (Women’s Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron). American Valkyries is created by Guershon Moreno and Dave Strauss.

Molly’s Vice is inspired by the real life of convicted MDMA manufacturer Steve Spaliviero, from his autobiography, Narco X. A crime procedural, Molly’s Vice centers on a mild-mannered Australian auto mechanic, who comes to make it in ’80s LA, beginning a hair-raising, heart-wrenching, coming-of-age adventure as an unlikely career criminal.

These two productions—and a few other select projects—are currently in development with international partners and will be overseen by NV Studios CEO Damien Brown from the company’s new office in Los Angeles, along with newly appointed Development Executive Luke Field and Witney Tucker. “We’re not making the transition to scripted—we’re adding more strings to our bow,” said Brown. “We haven’t taken any shortcuts in the development of these series, instead biding our time for the combination of the right partners, showrunners, creative teams and talent to click into place.”
