Netflix has unveiled that the character Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, will be the romantic lead of Bridgerton season four.

Though Benedict’s older and younger brothers are both now happily married, he has always loathed the idea of settling down—until an enchanting woman dubbed the Lady in Silver captures his attention at a masquerade ball.

Season four of Bridgerton will consist of eight episodes. While Benedict is the lead, the new season will continue th storylines of Violet Bridgerton, Anthony and Kate Bridgerton, Colin and Penelope Bridgerton, Eloise Bridgerton, Francesca and John Sterling and many more.

“Benedict has always been a little lost—or free, depending on the way you want to look at it,” Thompson said. “But now he’s trying to find something a bit more solid in himself.”

“He’s a charming man who’s trying to find his way,” said executive producer Shonda Rhimes. “He’s very delightful and funny. I’m excited for everybody to watch him.”

Showrunner Jess Brownell added, “It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down. He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode. I’m excited for where we’re going with him in season four. There are a lot of things I want to say about it, but I should probably wait…”
