The selected projects are: Bodo (Poland), Bordertown (Finland), I Know Who You Are (Spain), Ku’damm ’56: Rebel With a Cause (Germany), Mathilde (Russia), Medici: Masters of Florence (Italy), Public Enemy (Belgium), Ramona (working title) (Chile), Section Zéro (France), The A Word (U.K.), The Secret (U.K.) and Victoria (U.K.).

The 12 finalists were selected by a jury comprised of leading showrunners and program creators: Teresa Fernández-Valdes and Ramón Campos Sáez (showrunners for The Refugees, Velvet and Gran Hotel), Chris Long (director and executive producer of The Americans and The Mentalist), Sarah Phelps (writer and executive producer of And Then There Were None, Casual Vacancy and Great Expectations), Søren Sveistrup (creator and writer of Forbrydelsen/The Killing) and Anna Winger (writer and co-creator of Deutschland 83).

Sveistrup said, “There are so many talented people in the TV business right now, directing, writing, producing and acting, and that’s the main reason why TV drama’s hot at the moment. Luckily, people are different, so all these shows are very different and the MIPDrama Screenings is really a great proof of the variety.”

“The inaugural MIPDrama Screenings showcase great drama series sourced from around the world. They reflect the popularity and quality of drama and its international appeal,” commented Laurine Garaude, the director of Reed MIDEM’s television division. “MIPTV is an ideal launching pad for such series and with the support of our Advisory Board, we will be developing the presence of drama at future MIPTVs.”
