Video Interview: Mariliendre’s Javier Ferreiro & Blanca Martínez Rodrigo

The LGBTQ+ musical dramedy Mariliendre follows Meri Román (played by Blanca Martínez Rodrigo), who was once the queen of Madrid’s gay nightlife. Ten years on, she is now a dethroned diva tormented by her past and bored with her present. She reconnects with her group of gay friends while trying to define her chaotic life and identity. It explores themes of friendship, identity, LGBTQ+ culture, the power of music and body positivity.

The show hails from Javier Ferreiro and is produced by Los Javis’s Suma Content alongside Atresmedia TV. Martínez Rodrigo and Ferreiro tell TV Drama Weekly about embracing the term “fag hag,” the casting and the show’s international appeal.
