Medyapim’s Turkish remake of the BBC Studios drama series Doctor Foster is to be distributed by Madd Entertainment.

Doctor Foster centers on a woman who suspects her husband of having an affair. The original BBC series won a number of awards in 2016, including several for best drama and a BAFTA prize for its lead actress, Suranne Jones. The drama has since been adapted for India, France and South Korea. The Turkish version of Doctor Foster, with Cansu Dere in the lead role and titled A Woman Scorned, will be broadcast on Kanal D beginning this October.

Fatih Aksoy, president of Medyapim, said: “It makes me extremely excited to tell the story of a woman who refuses to be a victim and chooses not to surrender. I am confident that Cansu Dere, with whom I am working for the second time after Mother, will be successful in bringing this character to life.”

Andre Renaud, senior VP of format sales for BBC Studios, said: “With Medyapim’s stellar track record for quality scripted adaptations, I have no doubt that this version of Doctor Foster will captivate audiences. I cannot wait to see Cansu Dere’s interpretation of this story.”

Medyapim’s Aksoy added: “We are very happy to begin this exciting partnership with BBC, one of the world’s leading drama experts, which we hope to be a long-term relationship with huge global success.”
