BURBANK: FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) has announced a lineup of licensing partners for the upcoming TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s contemporary fantasy novel American Gods, debuting next year on Starz.

Chronicle Books is set to publish a book that will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the TV series. Meanwhile, Dark Horse Deluxe, a division of Dark Horse Comics, has come on board to develop a host of novelty and collectible products. These include a 3D crystal laser-etched cube, a sculpted coin replica pin, playing cards, barware, embroidered patches, coaster sets, lenticular cards, journals/notebooks and optical-illusion products.

“The epic, complex and diverse world of American Gods provides unique and dynamic product opportunities,” said Andrea Brent, the senior VP of licensing and franchise management at FMNA. “We’re looking forward to showcasing the property further at Licensing Expo as we look to establish additional partners across all categories.”

“We have been fans of Neil Gaiman and American Gods for years, and are so excited to see the story come forward from top talents Bryan Fuller and Michael Green because we know they will get it right,” said David Scroggy, Dark Horse Deluxe product VP. “The opportunities for unusual and unique collectible products are many and varied, and we hope to bring forward a range of products as interesting as the TV show itself.”

“A truly beloved novel, Neil Gaiman’s American Gods merits a television series that can explore the story with depth and breadth,” said Sarah Malarkey, the executive editorial director at Chronicle Books. “Chronicle Books is thrilled to partner with FremantleMedia to capture and celebrate this unique production in book form.”
