Apple TV+ has given a straight-to-series order to the new drama Lessons in Chemistry, starring and executive produced by Academy Award winner Brie Larson.

Produced by Apple Studios, Lessons in Chemistry is based on the upcoming debut novel from Bonnie Garmus. Set in the early 1960s, the series centers on science-loving Elizabeth Zott, who finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab. When she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, she sets out to teach both men and women a lot more than recipes—while still hoping to return to her true love, science.

Lessons in Chemistry is written and executive produced by Susannah Grant (Unbelievable, Erin Brockovich). Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan (Ozark, A Teacher) will executive produce with Larson and Grant through their Aggregate Films.
