LEONINE Studios has acquired the international distribution rights to the crime drama series Troppo from AGC Television.

Based on the Crimson Lake book series by Candice Fox, the TV series sees a down-and-out ex-cop partner with an eccentric small-town private investigator to solve the murder of a brilliant tech pioneer. It recently premiered on Australia’s ABC and is set to debut in the U.S. next month on Amazon Freevee.

Thomas Jane (1922, Hung, The Punisher, Boogie Nights) and Nicole Chamoun (On the Ropes, Safe Harbour) star in the lead roles. They are joined by Radha Mitchell (Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen, The Shack) and David Lyons (Eat Pray Love, Safe Haven, Truth Be Told, Revolution).

The television adaptation was created and written by award-winning filmmaker Yolanda Ramke (The Haunting Of Bly Manor, Cargo), who co-directed the series with Jocelyn Moorhouse (Wakefield, The Dressmaker), Catherine Millar (Twisted), Ben Howling (Cargo) and Grant Brown (Rush). Ramke executive produces as well, alongside AGC Studios’ Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz and Matt Bankston; EQ Media Group’s Greg Quail, Lisa Duff and Simonne Overend; Beyond Entertainment’s Mikael Broglund and David Ogilvy; Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Sally Riley and Andrew Gregory; and Renegade Entertainment’s Thomas Jane and Courtney Lauren Penn.

Troppo is produced by EQ Media Group and Beyond Entertainment in association with Renegade Entertainment, with major production financing from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, AGC Studios in association with Aperture Media Partners, and Screen Australia in association with Screen Queensland and with support from the City of Gold Coast.
