Keshet International Boards Clapperboard’s Number One Fan

Keshet International (KI) has acquired Clapperboard’s new thriller series, Number One Fan, starring Jill Halfpenny and Sally Lindsay for Paramount’s 5 in the U.K.

Number One Fan is directed by Paul Wilmshurst. Mike Benson and Suzi McIntosh are executive producers for Clapperboard. Brett Wilson is the producer. Rachel Kilfeather is the lead writer on the series with Marcus Fleming.

TV presenter Lucy, the nation’s sweetheart, has two million Instagram followers, a famous husband and a flawless family. One day, she meets Donna Hughes, an unassuming fan who intervenes to stop a thief stealing Lucy’s bag in a supermarket car park. Lucy invites Donna, her hero and “number one fan”, to watch her show as thanks. But Donna’s fandom turns into a darker obsession.

“We have been looking to partner with Clapperboard for some time, and from the moment I read the scripts, I knew this was the project we’d been waiting for,” said Anke Stoll, KI’s senior VP of acquisitions and co-productions. “Together with 5’s Sebastian Cardwell, Mike and his team have assembled an incredible cast and crew who have created a must-watch drama about the darker side of fame that really does have international appeal.”

KI will launch Number One Fan at The London TV Screenings with an exclusive talent-led Q&A preview screening at 1 p.m. on February 24 at The Vue West End on London’s Leicester Square.
