ITV has acquired The Reunion, a drama series based on the best-selling French novel by Guillaume Musso.

The French Riviera-set six-parter stars Ioan Gruffudd. It is slated to premiere on ITVX later this year and will air on ITV’s linear channels in 2023.

Musso’s The Reunion (La Jeune Fille et la Nuit) opens in the present day at a high school reunion in the south of France, where three former friends reconnect. They grew apart and lost touch, but they are still bound by a tragic secret tied to the disappearance of a high school girl who went missing 25 years ago in the region.

The Reunion started shooting on location in the south of France last summer with an international cast headlined by Gruffudd (Fantastic Four, Liar), Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim Uprising), Grégory Fitoussi (Peaky Blinders, Spiral), Dervia Kiwan, Vahina Giocante (Ultimate Heist, Mata Hari), Rupert Graves (Sherlock), Shemss Audat (Spiral, Baron Noir), Cosimo Fusco (Friends, Mentalist) and Salóme Gunnarrsdóttir (Pennyworth, Zack Snyder’s Justice League).

Directed by Bill Eagles (Fringe, Gotham, Pennyworth), the English-language series is produced by Make It Happen Studio (No Second Chance), co-produced with the European Alliance (France Télévisions, Rai, ZDF) and presented by MGM International Television Productions with MGM handling distribution. Marston Bloom (Selection Day, Marcella) penned the adaptation.

Sasha Breslau, ITV’s head of content acquisitions, said: “The Reunion is a hotly anticipated, high-caliber production, and we can’t wait to share it with ITVX viewers this autumn.”
