Video: Invisible Heroes’ Mikael Persbrandt, Sophia & Pelle Heikkilä

Invisible Heroes stars Pelle Heikkilä, Sophia Heikkilä and Mikael Persbrandt discuss their approach to playing characters based on real people in the Finnish/Chilean co-pro.

 

A political thriller, Invisible Heroes is based on the true story of the young Finnish diplomat Tapani Brotherus, who secretly secured asylum in Europe for more than 2,000 left-wing Chilean citizens whose lives were under threat following General Augusto Pinochet’s military coup in 1973. Pelle Heikkilä stars in the lead role opposite Sophia Heikkilä, his real-life spouse who plays Tapani’s wife, Lysa Brotherus, in the series. The couple was joined by Mikael Persbrandt, who portrays Swedish ambassador Harald Edelstam, to speak with TV Drama Weekly’s Mansha Daswaniabout the Finnish/Chilean co-pro. Persbrandt, Sophia and Pelle discuss their approach to playing characters based on real people and what they learned about this period in history. The series is co-produced by Kaiho Republic in Finland and Parox in Chile for Yle and Chilevisión, with Eccho Rights handling distribution.
