Netflix has renewed the Mexican drama Ingobernable for a second season.

A Netflix original, the series stars Kate del Castillo as the First Lady of Mexico, on the run following the murder of her husband (for which she is a suspect). The second season of the Spanish-language drama is set to debut in 2018. All previous episodes of season one are now available on Netflix.

Ingobernable is produced by Argos and created by Epigmenio Ibarra, Veronica Velasco and Natasha Ybarra-Klor.

Epigmenio Ibarra, creator and executive producer of the series, said: “For us at Argos it is an honor, privilege and a huge commitment to be making a second season of Ingobernable with Netflix. We are very grateful [that] the people in Mexico, the United States, and many other countries that watched the series, took an interest in the story of Emilia Urquiza and want to know more about her fight. We thank Netflix for the trust and support.”

Del Castillo noted: “I am very happy to know that a second season of Ingobernable has been confirmed. There are many things left to do and say and many characters to discover. I’m very excited to be continuing on this incredible project with Netflix.”

The VP of international original series at Netflix, Erik Barmack, added, “Kate del Castillo and Argos have created an edgy character and a groundbreaking series that has captivated fans in Mexico and around the world. We are thrilled to be continuing this story on Netflix.”
