Attraction Distribution has inked an agreement with Nish Media to distribute a new Indigenous drama series in the global market.

Inspired by true events, Dear Flora tells the story of an Algonquin brother and sister who, in the 1960s, were taken away from their parents and sent to an Indian residential school. The series shows how both are now trying to make peace with their painful past.

The 6×44-minute original series is written and directed by Sonia Bonspille Boileau and stars Dominique Pétin, Marco Collin, Russell Flamand, Sara Rankin Kistabish, André Robitaille, Théodore Pellerin, Virginie Fortin, Jean-Carl Boucherm Antoine Pilon and Sophie Desmarais. It was produced by Nish Media for ICI Radio-Canada and APTN.

“This beautiful production moved us greatly, and we would like to share it with the rest of the world,” says Xiaojuan Zhou, president of Attraction Distribution. “This story is not only Canadian but also universal because we, regardless of origins or nationalities, are all human beings who want to be loved.”

Jason Brennan, producer of the series and president of Nish Media, added: “Attraction has a track record as a major international distributor to have exported multiple French language Quebec series. There is no doubt that Attraction is the ideal partner to help us bring our series to international audiences. This important story needs to be seen worldwide.”
