Hulu to Stream British Dramedy My Mad Fat Diary

LONDON: Hulu in the U.S. has picked up the exclusive streaming VOD rights for the British comedy-drama series My Mad Fat Diary.

The deal includes all three seasons of the International Emmy-nominated series and was negotiated by Endemol Shine International. All episodes of the series will be available to stream exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu’s No Commercials Plan and Limited Commercials Plan. Produced by Tiger Aspect Drama, the 16×1-hour is a coming-of-age look at teenage life from the perspective of an overweight 16-year-old in mid-90s Lincolnshire.

Cathy Payne, the chief executive of Endemol Shine International, commented: “We are so excited that My Mad Fat Diary has found a great home in the U.S. with Hulu. On the back of the 2015 International Emmy nomination for Best Drama Series, it is fantastic that the U.S. viewing audience now has a chance to experience this series and the wonderful characters.”

Will Gould, co-managing director of Tiger Aspect Drama, added: “This is one of the best young casts on television, led by the awesomely brilliant (and Scottish BAFTA winning!) Sharon Rooney playing the unforgettable Rae Earl. The casts’ passion for the scripts and for their characters made for an onscreen chemistry that I know Hulu viewers will fall in love with just as British fans did.”
