He Slid Into Her DMs to Debut on Lifetime

He Slid Into Her DMs, a new film directed by Alicia Coppola (Why Women Kill), is set to debut on September 28 on Lifetime as part of its Ripped from the Headlines slate.

The movie, starring Courtney Thorne-Smith (Melrose Place, Ally McBeal, According to Jim) and Stella Gregg (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Trust Me), centers on a 17-year-old influencer whose stalker shows up on her doorstep after she blocks him online. Inspired by actual events, the film explores the tragic consequences of how social media fame can fuel real-world violence.

In the movie, 17-year-old Berni’s life seems perfect from the outside; she’s popular, dating the captain of the basketball team, heading to New York University in the fall and is a burgeoning social media influencer. In reality, her life is a complete mess. Her best friend is betraying her behind her back, she is struggling to gain more followers to financially help her single mother, and her boyfriend breaks up with her because she spends more time on her phone than with him.

Before getting back to gather with her boyfriend, she strikes up a friendship with an online fan and agrees to sell him private photos. Things take a deadly turn when he shows up on her doorstep, causing her mom to make a tragic decision that ends up destroying Berni’s carefully crafted public image.

In addition to Thorne Smith and Gregg, Kane Parks (All American: Homecoming) also stars.

He Slid Into Her DMs is produced by Cartel Pictures. Coppola directed the film from a script written by Erica Lane, Christina Kelly Holmes and Lydia Genner. Executive producers include Stan Spry and Eric Woods.
