HBO Renews Dune: Prophecy

HBO has renewed Dune: Prophecy, co-produced with Legendary Television, for a second season.

The series takes place in the universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise to power and follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the sect that becomes known as the Bene Gesserit. The season one finale is set to debut on December 22.

The ensemble cast of Dune: Prophecy includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha and Barbara Marten.

The series is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

Alison Schapker is showrunner of the series, and Anna Foerster directed multiple episodes. They both also executive produce, alongside Diane Ademu-John, Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns and Jon Spaihts. Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert are executive producers for the Frank Herbert estate. Anderson serves as co-producer.
