GoQuest Media has secured a deal with the Brazilian streaming platform Globoplay for the Serbian drama series Civil Servant.

Per the deal, Globoplay has acquired the exclusive streaming rights to the spy thriller, produced by Telekom Srbija and Film Danas. Civil Servant is created and produced by Predrag Antonijevic (Savior, Dara of Jasenovac) and directed by Miroslav Lekic and Ivan Zivkovic. Filming of its third season has recently commenced.

Civil Servant follows Lazar Stanojević, a young, ambitious Serbian Secret Service (BIA) agent as he negotiates the rules of the international spy game in the modern world. After soon learning that all is not what it seems, he is left fighting the distrust he now has for everything he had thought to be true. Despite his doubts, his sense of duty still leads him to make dangerous decisions to try to protect his nation, his family and himself.

Antonio Augusto Valente, Globoplay’s content strategy manager, said: “The Serbian Secret Service thriller Civil Servant is part of an important strategy to bring to our audiences a great portfolio of global series, with content from different countries and with interesting and universal themes.”

Jimmy George, VP of sales and acquisitions at GoQuest Media, added: “What a brilliant debut for Civil Servant in Latin America, and we’re so glad that this captivating series has found its home with Globoplay. We hope Brazilian audiences root for the protagonist Lazar as they discover great and unique locations, engage with the characters and enjoy the novelty of learning the workings of an intelligence network that is quite unfamiliar.”
