BERLIN: At this year’s Berlinale, Globo is slated to showcase the dramas Supermax and The Wise Ones, marking the first time that productions from South America have been selected for the Drama Series Days event.

At 10 a.m. on February 13, Globo will present two episodes of The Wise Ones, a 2016 International Emmy-nominated show directed by Fernando Meirelles, at Zoo Palast 4. The series, an O2 Filmes production for Globo, focuses on such themes as aging and reinventing oneself later in life. The cast includes Beatriz Segall (The Clone), Selma Egrei (The Illusionist), Joana Fomm (Boogie Oogie) and Juca de Oliveira (Brazil Avenue), among others.

On the same day at 4 p.m., the company will screen two episodes of the Ibero-American version of Supermax, which features artistic direction by Argentina’s Daniel Burman, at Zoo Palast 5. The psychological thriller marks Globo’s first original production aimed at international audiences, produced in Spanish. It was co-produced by Oficina Burman, Mediaset (Spain), TV Azteca (Mexico) and TVP (Argentina), in addition to Teledoce (Uruguay).
