The English-language series stars an international cast that includes Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone), Karena Lam and Chris Pang (Interior Chinatown), among others, and follows a group of close-knit friends across one summer. It was originally commissioned by Viu and will air across its 15 markets. It was previously acquired for Hulu in the U.S.

The ensemble cast also includes Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun), Yvonne Chapman (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Celina Jade (Wolf Warrior 2), Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), Kōki, Lee Jae-yoon (Physical 100), Lyman Heung (King Maker V), Anson Lo and Marf Yau.

The Season is created and executive produced by Yalun Tu, who previously co-created My Undead Yokai Girlfriend and worked on series such as NCIS: Hawaii and Wu Assassin. Chilean director Marialy Rivas (The Jetty) serves as lead director. Rivas also executive produces alongside Janice Lee and Agatha Lo for PCCW Media and Chloe Dan, Matt Aragachi and Dylan Tarason for SK Global.

“We are thrilled to have The Season stream on Hulu in the U.S. and to partner with Fremantle for international distribution, bringing this intriguing and riveting emotional ride to a global audience,” said Janice Lee, managing director of PCCW Media Group and CEO of Viu. “The series will also be available on Viu across all of its markets. Developed in collaboration with our production partner SK Global, the series immerses viewers in Hong Kong’s pulsating energy through stunning visuals, ensuring the show is both authentic and relatable to a global audience.”

Chloe Dan, executive VP and head of television at SK Global, added, “The Season is a story with truly universal appeal, and we are thrilled to collaborate with Hulu to bring it to U.S. audiences.
