Fremantle has signed a number of agreements for the upcoming book-based drama My Brilliant Friend with broadcasters in 56 territories.

My Brilliant Friend is headed to Canal+ in France and French-speaking Africa, Sky Atlantic in the U.K., HBO Europe in Scandinavia, Spain and CEE, Quebecor Content in French-speaking Canada, VRT in Belgium, COSMOTE TV in Greece, RUV in Iceland, HOT in Israel, Cellcom tv in Israel, Manoto TV in MENA, SVT in Sweden, Digiturk in Turkey, Foxtel in Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand.

The Italian-language HBO (U.S.), Rai Fiction and TIMVISION series is inspired by Elena Ferrante’s best-selling novel of the same name.

Jens Richter, the CEO, International, at Fremantle, stated: “Ever since we announced the adaptation of My Brilliant Friend, back in 2016, the reaction from both global press and buyers has been huge. This was evident when we held the world premiere at Venice last month—the response in the room was electrifying; everyone was on their feet for a 10-minute ovation. The drama features an amazing custom-made set of 1950s Naples, and a spectacular young cast that brilliantly brings Ferrante’s iconic and powerful story to life. It’s a world-class drama that is set to transfix global audiences.”
