Female-Driven Buddy Detective Procedural Set for Citytv

Citytv and Pixcom, in association with 3 Arts and Lionsgate Television, have begun principal photography on Wong & Winchester, a female-driven buddy detective procedural.

Showrun by Chris Pozzebon (The Hardy Boys, Schitt’s Creek, Blindspot), the series follows Marissa Wong, a bitter ex-cop turned private investigator, and Sarah Winchester, a former career student originally hired as Wong’s driver.

Grace Lynn Kung (Transplant, Fahrenheit 451) and Sofia Banzhaf (Closet Monster, Splinters) star in the lead roles. Hollis Ludlow-Carroll is creator and co-showrunner. The series is produced by Nathalie Cécyre and directed by Stephan Beaudoin.

Wong & Winchester is set to premiere mid-season on Citytv and Citytv+ in Canada. Lionsgate is handling worldwide distribution outside of Canada.

“We are pleased to work with Citytv and Pixcom and to partner with 3 Arts on this Canadian series to give audiences around the world the opportunity to enjoy this compelling new show,” said Agapy Kapouranis, president of international television and digital distribution at Lionsgate.

“Pixcom is proud to bring this dynamic duo to the screen! As different as they are, they will become accomplices for our greatest viewing pleasure,” said Pixcom’s Nicola Merola, president, and Charles Lafortune, VP of content and creative affairs. “Grace and Sofia give Wong & Winchester a modern twist on what a private investigator is supposed to be. With them, appearances are often deceiving, and the culprit is rarely the one we believe.”

Trevor Rotenberg, manager/producer at 3 Arts, added, “We’re thrilled to be a part of the Wong & Winchester team. Partnering with Citytv, Pixcom and Lionsgate has been wonderful. We look forward to doing many more together!”
