STOCKHOLM: Ay Yapim’s original Turkish drama Phi is being distributed worldwide by Eccho Rights.

The series is created for the digital platform Puhu TV. It is based on the first in a trilogy of novels, Phi, Chi, Pi, by Azra Kohen. Phi is the basis for the first run of 20 episodes and is to be followed by two more seasons based on the novels Chi and Pi.

Producer Pelin Distas is leading the project, alongside Kerem Catay, CEO and producer at Ay Yapim, and director Mert Baykal (Magnificent Century, Kardesim Benim). The story is a psychological romance thriller centered on a celebrity psychiatrist, Can Manay. He is a serial womanizer, but his obsession with new neighbor Duru will have consequences for a whole cast of characters while shining a light on Manay’s own dark past.

Phi marks the next step in Turkish drama production, specifically targeting digital audiences for the first time,” said Distas. “The amazing cast, as well as the 60-minute episode format, marks Phi as a completely new production from Turkey.”

Catay added, “We see this as the future of TV, which is why we’re investing in leading this movement. We believe in the importance and potential of OTT platforms, which we see reforming the style of storytelling and local content.”
